“The best part about art is looking at my painting and knowing I physically made something beautiful come to life.” –Susie Felix

Part of the reason why we started this blog is to inspire people to explore outside their boundaries, and not with just our work, but by the works of our peers. We hope our readers can look at an artist and appreciate them for what they create Continue reading “The Artist Spotlight: Soul Searching with Susie Felix”

Tiny Living with a Big Purpose

Tiny Homes are becoming a big hit.

Imagine this. You’re off for a few days, you don’t know what to do but you know you just need to go. Maybe Oregon? Or how about New York City? Or maybe the good old city of angels. So you walk outside your tiny house (200 sq. ft. to be exact) that’s attached to your car,  and you just….. go.

The desire to explore is embedded in all of us– whether it be across the county, the state, or the country. And tiny living makes this dream a reality. The tiny movement seems to be a big hit as the miniature house trend continues to evolve.

People are joining this movement for many reasons, including environmental concerns, financial concerns, and the desire for more time and freedom to travel. Tiny homes are more economically and environmentally friendly — requiring less energy and needing fewer building materials than traditionally larger homes.

It’s a pretty neat idea really. Perfect for anyone who doesn’t fancy the idea of living in a mansion, these tiny houses bring out the traveler in all of us, thanks to companies like 84 Lumber.

The famous lumber company is offering a new line of portable tiny homes no bigger than 200 sq. ft. Ideal for travelers, these tiny abodes come equipped with tandem axle trailers, allowing homeowners to take their living spaces wherever life may lead. Fun!!!

The introduction of Tiny Living by 84 Lumber offers competitively priced custom-built houses. For those who have a small family (and by small I mean maaaybe two of you!) and don’t have the desire, the funds or credit to purchase a house, this could be an option for you to get started!

The company offers four tiny home models under three packages to accommodate dedicated do-it-yourselfers who want to build their own houses, or those who want a move-in ready home. Each model can be customized and all range in sizes from 150 sq. ft. to 200 sq. ft. (fyi, the typical U.S. home is about 2,600 sq. ft).

Packages start at $6,884 for a custom trailer and home plans. Do you have the guts to build your own house and travel the country in it?!

Other companies like Four Lights offer contemporary designs at an affordable price. These beauties are adorned with classic wood styles making you want to stay in your tiny cottage forever. Or at least until you reach your next travel destination.

This tiny movement is anything but tiny and extremely appealing to not just the average crazy millennial, but perhaps someone who is retired, or if you’re someone who is lucky enough to have long vacations from work… or even better, maybe you work from home! If that’s you, start building because the world is waiting for you.
